1 | Who's talking? My story with the Tarot

In this introductory episode I welcome listeners to “Tarot & More,” explain my background and philosophy, and set the tone for what the series will explore. I frame Tarot as a reflective, artistic tool rather than a means of divination, and outline the kinds of conversations and guests listeners can expect in future shows.

.

Who's talking to you?

I'm Gosia, a multipassionate writer, poet, language teacher, translator, dog lover, and spiritually curious bookworm. I come from Poland but live in London, UK, and run an online shop curating indie Tarot & Oracle decks, especially those inspired by Eastern‑European and Slavic folklore: https://lasvistas.co.uk/

Core themes & takeaways:

Personal lens: Eclectic spiritual beliefs, grounded in evidence‑based science. Belief in spirits of loved ones watching over us. Resonating with Taurus' Earth element.

Tarot philosophy:

Tarot = self‑reflection, inspiration, and a spotlight on answers we already hold. Influenced by Lindsay Mack & Soul Tarot. Not a predictive tool but a catalyst for self-reflection and development.

Podcast focus:

Explore how contemporary artists reinterpret classic tarot symbols. Highlight voices traditionally excluded from tarot imagery. Discuss community‑building around tarot. Track how meanings of individual cards shift across time & geography. Feature creators of indie decks, teachers, readers, authors, booksellers, and community organizers.

Divination context:

Doesn’t endorse future‑prediction; views fate as non‑fixed. Still fascinated by divination as a cultural practice (e.g. Romani fortune‑telling).

Tarot journey:

First deck (2020): Lisa McLoughlin’s Textured Tarot... By 2025: Owns multiple indie decks and runs an online shop with Tarot & Oracle cards :)

Disclaimer:

Tarot readers, healers and practitioners of "woo" can offer valuable support, but they’re not substitutes for licensed mental‑health professionals. Listeners needing therapeutic help should seek accredited counsellors.

Episode 2 (Halloween 2025): Conversation with the first guest, an artist, a witch, an author, a Tarot publisher, and a fellow Slav: my “8 of Wands” in the Tarot shop adventure.

Speaker:

Hello magical beings and creatures of the forest.

2

:

Welcome to the Tarot and More podcast.

3

:

A place for inquisitive, artistic and questioning minds.

4

:

First of all,

5

:

I would like to welcome you to this little corner of the podcasting world.

6

:

Thank you for stopping by.

7

:

I hope you will stay for the journey.

8

:

Maybe I should start with saying something about myself to set the expectations who I am and who I am not,

9

:

what you can expect to find in this podcast and what you probably won't. My name is Gosia.

10

:

I'm a multi-passionate writer, poet, language teacher, translator, dog lover and a spiritually curious bookworm.

11

:

I'm a little bit woo.

12

:

I have religious and spiritual beliefs that are eclectic and don't fit neatly into a labelled box.

13

:

But I can tell you that I certainly don't take guidance from people and spaces that don't invite women to have an equal footing in spreading the divine message.

14

:

That's for sure.

15

:

And I strongly believe that the spirits of our loved ones who have passed away remain with us and can look after us if we invite them to.

16

:

At least that's what I've been experiencing with my dad after his death.

17

:

But I'm also firmly grounded in evidence-based science and generally keep close to the earth,

18

:

which is, by the way, my favourite element and the one that corresponds to my sign, which is Taurus.

19

:

I don't see a problem in holding space for this duality in my life.

20

:

I think it's important to know where they belong and where they don't.

21

:

So what about the tarot?

22

:

It usually sits in the realm of wool, right?

23

:

Well, not necessarily. I think it depends on what we use it for.

24

:

To me, tarot is a tool for self reflection, an inspiration and an invitation to look deeper into what's going on in our lives now,

25

:

where we should direct our attention,

26

:

what we should look after and what we should embrace.

27

:

I have a friend with whom I've been friends since we were 15,

28

:

so a really long time.

29

:

When we were teenagers she told me something that stayed with me,

30

:

that we already hold the answers to our own questions deep inside us.

31

:

Mind you, she completely doesn't remember saying this,

32

:

but I do remember.

33

:

And also she is an experienced psychotherapist now,

34

:

so that is very much something that she could have said even as a teenager.

35

:

And this is the best explanation of what tarot is to me. A tool to uncover and put a spotlight on these answers that I already have in me in terms of the Tarot school of thought, so to speak, that I follow,

36

:

my teacher of choice and someone whose approach to Tarot resonates with me very much is Lindsay Mack,

37

:

the host of the podcast Tarot for the Wild Soul and the author of an upcoming book with the same title and the Soul Tarot Deck. I am with Lindsay on that.

38

:

Tarot can be a tool for our personal healing and internal evolution, and not something that can predict the future.

39

:

I am not a Tarot reader. I mean, I do read for myself, but not for other people, and I don't think I ever will.

40

:

What I'm interested in and what will be the focus of my conversations in future episodes is what Tarot, this centuries-old system,

41

:

inspires in us in our current times.

42

:

How do artists choose to interpret classic symbols now?

43

:

What does Tarot symbolism mean to people who have been traditionally excluded from its imagery?

44

:

What kind of community building does it inspire?

45

:

How have the meaning and message of each card been evolving and changing over time and space?

46

:

These are the types of questions I like to address in conversations with creators of independent decks, Tarot teachers, readers, authors, booksellers, and community organisers,

47

:

and also in my own solo episodes.

48

:

I know I just said a moment ago that I don't believe in divination and Tarot's ability to predict the future.

49

:

I don't because I generally don't believe that the future can be predicted.

50

:

That would assume that it is somehow fixed, predestined,

51

:

which is very much against what I subscribe to.

52

:

Having said so, however, I am interested in divination and fortune-telling as a cultural practice which has existed for hundreds of years in some cultures.

53

:

I very much hope that at some point I'll be able to talk on the podcast to Romani fortune tellers because I find this aspect of their culture fascinating and also very much misunderstood.

54

:

What else about me in 2020 I bought my first Tarot deck, which is still one of my favourites,

55

:

Lisa McLoughlin's textured tarot, which I picked up from Lisa's front porch after driving across completely empty London.

56

:

That was eerie because if you've ever been to London,

57

:

the London in England, UK,

58

:

you know it's never empty except for these initial couple of weeks of the first lockdown in 2020.

59

:

Anyway, my intention was to stay with it forever, being faithful to one deck, which I chose with a lot of consideration and reflection.

60

:

Fast forward to 2025, and I not only own several beautiful indie decks, but I also have my own online shop with Tarot and Oracle cards because I just wanted so much to bring all these beautiful decks to Tarot enthusiasts in Britain.

61

:

I live in London, but I'm originally from Poland, and my particular desire is to gather in my shop artistic, creative,

62

:

beautiful decks from Eastern Europe and Eastern European creators and those representing Slavic folklore and design.

63

:

But overall, my shop is quite eclectic, just as everything in my life.

64

:

And last but not least, I'd like to highlight one more thing that I feel very passionate about,

65

:

and I'm saying it with much love and admiration for all Tarot readers, fortune tellers, healers and practitioners of woo.

66

:

They can bring a lot of value, help and support to any curious seeker, but they can never replace a professional, certified, licensed therapist.

67

:

So if you somehow ended up here while looking for actual help with your psychological or mental state,

68

:

please search for an accredited counsellor or therapist in your country first.

69

:

Well, I hope that I set the expectations for this podcast right and that you will join me for the next episode on Halloween 2025 for a conversation with my very first guest, my fellow Slav, and someone who I can only define as my eight of Wands for this whole Tarot shop and podcast adventure.

70

:

And for now,

71

:

stay magical.
